THE PROJECT

Folly Forest demonstrates the immense potential of landscape architecture. Strathcona School is in the heart of one of Manitoba‘s most impoverished and needy neighbourhoods. Repurposing old materials into a new context magically transforms 50 year old asphalt into a dance floor of 100 trees.

JURY COMMENTS

Folly Forest takes the most mundane landscape – an asphalt surface, and transforms it into a garden. This project far exceeds everyone’s expectation of what can be achieved with few materials and resources. The project invites playful engagement with the children it serves.
